Lewis and Braxton counties are among the inaugural cohort in the Rails to Trails Conservancy’s TrailNation Accelerator, a capacity-building program aimed at helping rural and small-town communities advance connected trail networks that support safety, health, economic vitality and quality of life.
Only 8 locations in the nation were chosen to participate in the program. “It’s giving us the technical expertise on what to put together, how to get funding, basically everything we need to do to get these interconnected trails going.” said Ray Smith, Executive Director of the Lewis County Economic Development Authority. The efforts from both counties to enhance their trail offerings directly led to them being selected, said Kelly Pack, program director,
Smith and representatives from the Rails to Trails Conservancy will be on hand to discuss the latest in the yearlong accelerator program.
