Yesterday, the Chamber was proud to host West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner as he presented the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce and Standard Gas of Jane Lew with the WV Chamber of Commerce Centurion Award which recognizes businesses which have served their communities for 100 years.

In preparing for the ceremony, I went back and looked at our founding documents from when the Chamber was formed back in 1922. We started with the purpose of:

  • Promoting and encouraging the economic development of Lewis County
  • Fostering the best interests of the citizens of this county
  • Encouraging the growth of new industries and business enterprises
  • Aiding members in the development of their entrepreneurial efforts and their professions

I am extremely proud to say that 100 years later, each of these goals remain core to the Chamber’s mission and how we aim to serve this community. And I look forward to the next 100 years and what the Chamber can and will be.

As the current executive director, it's important to recognize each of the talented and dedicated executive directors who have served our organization over the last 100 years. And it's equally important to recognize the countless individuals from this community who have stepped up to volunteer and serve on our Board of Directors and our committees.
