Chamber Committees

As starting out, we are going to form and focus on the following 3 committees.

MEMBERSHIP & AMBASSADOR COMMITTEE

The Membership Committee oversees the ambassador program, in which Chamber Ambassadors play a vital role in welcoming new members and strengthening relations with Members as well as the larger Lewis County community. This committee oversees the choosing of the ambassadors to represent the Chamber. These ambassadors are an extension of the Chamber staff whose responsibilities include welcoming new Members, strengthening relations with current members, and helping members gain the most value from their Chamber membership. Committee members report to the board of directors regarding ways the Chamber can improve the overall Member experience.

Time commitment: 1-Hour Every Month + Events

EVENT COMMITTEE

The Event Committee oversees and provides support for networking events, monthly luncheons, and other events. They help create, plan, schedule and attend events to ensure the spotlight is on Chamber's goals for the event and make sure the featured businesses, speakers, and guests have the best experience. They also serve as the event committee for the Annual Dinner

Time commitment: 1-Hour Every Month + Monthly Events

EDUCATION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

This committee would develop future leadership programs for our youth, addresses issues within the schools, job shadowing, workforce development initiatives, and liaison between our youth and the workforce. Also, set up educational programs and events between our youth, businesses, and educational organizations.

Time commitment: 1-Hour Every Month + Quarterly Educational Luncheons

Additional Committees

If we have enough interest and commitment, these committees may be formed with the approve of the board.

Government Affairs & Advocacy Committee

The GAC addresses issues that impact the business community and business climate, including urban planning, transportation, development, zoning, taxes, and regulatory and operational concerns. The GAC provides a strong voice directed to all levels of government on behalf of businesses and monitors legislation, taxation, and regulatory issues to keep members informed.

Health & Wellness Committee

The Health & Wellness Committee helps connect businesses within the various medical and wellness industries through ongoing programming, including health talks, mixers, and monthly committee meetings.

Military Veterans Commerce Committee (MVCC)

MVCC brings value to military veteran-owned and veteran-friendly businesses through education, marketing, advocacy, and networking. Learn what resources are available and best practices for maximizing benefits like Department Of Veteran Affairs loans, Post-9/11 Gi Bill education funding, public procurement advantages, and much more.

Technology Committee

The Technology Committee's mission is to provide resources and business connections to the technology sector in the Lewis County and Central West Virginia area through valuable networking mixers, fundraising, and investment opportunities, as well as expansion and partnership opportunities. The Technology Committee provides a series of educational seminars on the next wave of technology applications to leverage businesses.

Young Professionals Network (YPN)

Our mission is to provide social and professional networking opportunities for young professionals in and around Lewis County. Committee members help plan the quarterly mixer events and network with these up-and-coming young professionals.

Community Development/Quality of Life Committee

This committee would focus on arts, entertainment, retail, working together to tackle poverty, homelessness which impacts our businesses. Supporting health events, such as 5K, etc. Focus on community areas that may prevent us from hiring and recruiting a talented workforce or preventing people from moving here.

Tourism & Visitor Committee

This committee's mission is to bring awareness and promote tourism of the community landmarks, events, museums, and visiting centers; in collaboration with our state and local CVB, local event planners, and businesses. This committee also collaborates with local leaders and media with the objective of making the Lewis County experience better for both locals and visitors alike.
